She was not going to freeze up...only yeah, she was at least a little, because she wasn't used to this, she got out of relationships before they reached this point, and if she didn't, 'thank you' was her standard response to the L-word.
But maybe she was growing up too. Oh, she was still terrified, but she wasn't bolting. That was good. That was progress.
"Okay." She bit her lower lip and fell silent, fussed with his shirt, bunched the material between her fingers and then smoothed it. "...Now what?"
